Overall Purpose of the Job
The role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of tactical planning:
- Development and delivery of quarterly sales campaigns in line with retained contribution margins, covering above-the-line tactical activity and volume bonus programmes
- Analysis and reporting of company and competitor sales performance, identifying key market trends
- Collaboration with the Director of Logistics to plan and maintain new car stock levels
- Maintenance and adjustment of the annual sales plan document as required
- Submission of overlays to support wider business needs
Main Activities and Tasks
- Work closely with the Director of Product and Planning to develop key above-the-line national promotions across Retail and Motability channels
- Ensure commercial policy terms align with business objectives, including dealer margins, volume bonus structures and demonstrator support
- Develop accurate short, medium and long-term sales forecasts by model and channel, taking all variables into account
- Monitor performance against forecasts, report on variances and propose strategic solutions to address any gaps
- Act as the internal industry expert, supporting other departments, particularly in above-the-line promotional activity
- Research and develop new customer offers across finance, insurance and servicing products
- Partner with finance partner colleagues to optimise acquisition and retention strategies
- Produce quarterly sales campaign documents and create overlays for dealer network communication when required
- Work with the Product Manager to ensure new vehicle launches are supported with competitive and effective offers
- Collaborate on the quarterly Cost of Contract report and maintain index positioning across Retail and Motability channels
- Work with the finance team to review contribution margins and incentive spend in line with overall business goals
Specific Requirements
- Strong analytical, planning and organisational skills
- Commercial experience in either a field-based or head office role
- Solid project management capability
- Strong presentation and influencing skills
- High level of numeracy, with advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail and efficiency
- Motor industry experience with broad market knowledge
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
