About the Role
This role is for a Dutch and Chinese-speaking Sales Consultant for supporting the development and expansion of FMCG market presence across the Netherlands.
This is a field-based, autonomous consulting role focused on business development, account management, and market expansion. The successful consultant will work directly with wholesalers, distributors, and retail partners, driving new business opportunities, expanding existing accounts, and strengthening product penetration across relevant commercial channels.
The role is well suited to a self-motivated, relationship-driven sales professional who enjoys working independently, travelling regularly, and engaging directly with customers in the local market. A fantastic opportunity to have the autonomy to make this role your own!
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Market Expansion
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through active prospecting, research, and market analysis.
- Develop new commercial relationships while maintaining and growing existing accounts.
- Expand regional market coverage and strengthen the distribution network across the Netherlands.
Account Management
- Build, manage, and develop strong relationships with existing partners
- Support partners in maintaining consistent product availability and account performance.
Sales Growth & Product Placement
- Drive revenue growth through effective product placement and range expansion initiatives.
- Strengthen overall brand visibility and product presence within the FMCG market.
Customer Engagement & Promotion
- Support customer meetings, presentations, and commercial negotiations.
- Contribute to promotional and sales initiatives in line with agreed commercial strategies.
Reporting & Market Insights
- Prepare regular activity and sales reports by collecting and analysing relevant commercial data.
- Provide feedback on market trends, customer needs, competitor activity, and growth opportunities.
Industry Engagement
- Attend relevant trade shows, exhibitions, and industry events.
- Follow up on leads generated through events and market activities to support business growth.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- 1-2 years’ experience in sales or commercial roles, ideally within FMCG or consumer goods.
- Fluent Dutch and Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese), spoken and written. English is advantageous but not essential.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage a field-based schedule.
- Strong organisational skills with a high level of professionalism and self-discipline.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Additional Requirements
- Eligibility to operate as a self-employed consultant in the Netherlands.
- Full European driving licence (frequent regional travel required).
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including occasional weekends, depending on customer and event requirements.
